The Animal Rescue League/Sweet Paws was formed to assist Animals in need we are a nonprofit 501c Organization, Since 1997 The Animal Recue League/Sweet Paws has played an active role in assisting the animals of St. Martin and the USA..  In 2004 it became known on the island of St. Martin that it’s only animal shelter had all but been abandoned

With the help of several volunteers, American Airlines and
THE ANIMAL RESCUE LEAGUE/ SWEET PAWS all the animals were saved. They were either airlifted to the United States and placed in wonderful loving homes or placed in wonderful loving homes on the island of St. Martin

This was an exhausting, emotional and fulfilling mission to save the animals that were left to die at the shelter in St. Martin
